Dick Hyland
President, Lyle Anderson Golf, Ltd.
Dick Hyland joined The Lyle Anderson Company in 1987 when he was named to
head golf operations at Desert Mountain, a role he held until 2001. While at Desert
Mountain, Dick played a key part in the development of The Tradition tournament,
which was hosted at Desert Mountain starting in 1989.
As President of Lyle Anderson Golf, Ltd., Dick works on the company’s strategic golf
initiatives and provides input on golf operations at all Lyle Anderson Clubs; he also
serves as host professional for PGA and LPGA tour events. Dick is a winner of the
Golf Professional of the Year award for the Southwest Section of the PGA, as well
as the PGA Merchandiser of the Year. He played college golf at St. Joseph’s University
(Pennsylvania) and has been a Class ‘A’ PGA member since 1982. Before coming to The Lyle
Anderson Companies, Dick was director of golf for the renowned Bardmoor Golf &
Tennis Club in Florida.

Hale Irwin
Ambassador of Golf
A legendary figure in professional golf, Hale Irwin is a three-time winner of the U.S.
Open and holds 20 PGA tour titles. He was among the most consistent players on
the tour, making 86 consecutive cuts—the fourth-longest streak on record. Hale
has also been the most successful player on the Champions Tour, with 44 total
tournament victories, including seven majors.
Hale represented the United States on five Ryder Cup teams, and captained the
U.S. President’s Cup Team in 1994. A two-sport athlete at the University of Colorado,
he was a two-time All-Conference football player for the Buffaloes as well as an
NCAA golf champion. A close friend of Lyle Anderson, Hale is a regular at Lyle
Anderson courses, including Hokuli`a. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall
of Fame in 1992.

Jim Flick
Ambassador of Golf
A natural-born teacher, Jim Flick was named one of the Top Ten Teachers of the
Century by Golf World magazine. Jim serves as a special consultant for instruction
at Lyle Anderson courses. He has shared his knowledge and love of the game for
51 years and helped over 200 touring professionals in that time, including Jack
Nicklaus and Tom Lehman. Over his career Jim has been honored as the PGA of
America Teacher of the Year (1998), and was selected to the World Golf Teachers
Hall of Fame (2002).
Director of instruction for Golf Digest from 1976-2000, Jim is the author of books
such as "How to Become a Complete Golfer," and "On Golf,” and a senior adviser to
The Golf Channel. As a teacher, he believes simpler is better, and that the true art
of teaching golf is to help each student understand their challenges and become
their own coach—a technique that fosters self-confidence and self-reliance.

Mike Malaska
Director of Instruction
Golf great Jack Nicklaus has called Mike Malaska “One of the top instructors in the
world.” And with good reason. Based at Lyle Anderson’s Superstition Mountain Golf
and Country Club, Mike is also Worldwide Director of Instruction for Nicklaus
Academies. He has been named to Golf Digest’s list of “America’s 50 Greatest
Teachers” since 2000, and to Golf Magazine’s “Top 100 Teachers in America.”
Mike played at Weber State University as a collegian, where he achieved All-American
status. Considered a top competitor among the game’s instructors, he played in the
1982 and 1986 U.S. Opens, as well as the 1988 PGA Championship. A much sought-
after lecturer at national teaching seminars, Mike has produced the DVD/video “You
Are Your Own Swing.” He is also consultant for TaylorMade/adidas Golf.
