Playing conditions at the two Jack Nicklaus co-designed golf courses at Superstition Mountain compare with any in the world, and provide tournament-quality surfaces on a daily basis. Legendary players such as Gary Player and Tom Weiskopf, and current stars Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa, are among the many who have come to praise the Prospector and Lost Gold courses, which appeal to the appetites of novices and touring professionals alike.
Prospector, ranked among the “Top 100 Residential Courses” by Golfweek magazine, has been the home to the LPGA Safeway International since 2004, while the links-style Lost Gold course was the site of the 2002 Senior Slam. Both courses are known for playability as well as shot value, and the scenery at the base of the Superstition Mountain range is exhilarating.
Golfers here can also take advantage of a 12-acre practice park and a one-acre putting park. Instruction is headed by Mike Malaska, one of the nation’s premier teachers. Additionally, the Golf Shop in the Clubhouse at Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club was honored by Golf World Business on its list of “100 Best Shops.” |
