In the country where golf was born, the 7,100-yard course at Loch Lomond has emerged as one of the grandest in the land. Designed by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish, the parkland-style course opened in 1994 and has since been called “Probably the best course in Europe” by PGA star Ernie Els, and Bunkered magazine has ranked it the best course in Scotland.

The course poses a challenge to the game’s best players, many of whom play here each summer in the Barclays Scottish Open. Streams, marshes and abundant trees contribute to the stirring beauty, and present natural hazards. Still, this is a course that’s accessible to golfers of modest skills. Each hole has the potential to be memorable, and there are inspiring views of the loch and surrounding highlands at nearly every turn.

Club Members can also enjoy a sister course, the Dundonald Links course on the coast near Troon, which provides a traditional Scottish links experience. Designed by Kyle Phillips, this 7,100-yard course was called one of the best new courses in the world by The Robb Report. Plans are also under way for a new heathland-style course at Loch Lomond, to be designed by Jack Nicklaus, which will allow Loch Lomond Members to choose from three distinct expressions of this ancient game.
