The kaleidoscope of the Kona Coast—blue ocean, lush green hillsides and bright tropical flowers—coupled with Jack Nicklaus’s careful eye for detail, make the Club at Hokuli`a one of Hawai`i’s most remarkable golf settings.

Since its opening in 2002, this course quickly gained attention from The Robb Report, which placed it in its 15th Annual Best of the Best Golf Communities in 2003. Nicklaus makes use of the natural topography, including lava rock, to accent the design, and there’s a view of the Pacific Ocean from nearly every hole along the 7,335-yard course.

Hokuli`a, located on the leeward side of the Island of Hawai`i, also benefits from the shelter of the Kona hills. Players here are protected from the persistent trade winds experienced elsewhere on the island, and the average temperature is in the mid 70s, making it one of the most ideal sites for golf throughout the Hawai`ian Islands. The dramatic surroundings at Hokuli`a are amplified by the terrain of the course, which rises from sea level to 400 feet.

In arranging the course, Nicklaus said he “tried to create 18 good holes that worked well together.” You’ll discover a course that tests your game, and works well with the unique backdrop of the Kona Coast.
